Industry trends indicate that many schools are grouping students and employers/employment opportunities into clusters (e.g., STEM, STEAM, Education, etc.). These clusters are then used to make sure that employers and job postings get in front of the most relevant student and alumni candidates.
If a school chooses to use the career cluster functionality in the platform, you will see this in the My Schools section. This is an opportunity for employers to associate themselves and their opportunities to the clusters created by career service administrators and chosen by students and alumni who set their career cluster preferences (used to filter, used for search).
Access the My Schools section of the platform by clicking the “my schools” link in the left-hand navigational menu. Click the exclamation mark to choose the career clusters you want to be associated with in the platform for that particular school.
This will open a new window. To review and choose the career clusters that are appropriate for you, click the little downward facing arrow in the career clusters box.
This will open a list of the career clusters that the school has created. Check the boxes that are by the career clusters you want. As you check those boxes, specific clusters will appear in the selection field to the right. When you are finished, click the “save selections” button once.
A message will briefly appear that your changes have been updated. The box will automatically close.
You will see when you return to the My Schools section that instead of an exclamation point, the career cluster column for the school now has a check mark indicating that you have made your career cluster selection.
You can return to the career clusters section by clicking the check mark in order to make new choices or remove current selections.
Students are able to utilize the various search filters to look up companies that are included in the career clusters of their choice.
